How to resolve Windows Live Messenger cannot login issue
Posted by Ricky on August 15, 2011
Windows Live Messenger 2011 seems somewhat fragile and always get error when login. My friend Nico Peelen found a way to quickly resolve this issue, Thanks Nico Again let me help to write it down for future reference 1. Ctrl+Shift+ESC: Call Windows Task Manager 2. Find a process named "wlcomm.exe" and kill it In X64 OS, it is named "wlcomm.exe *32" 3. Delete the file C:\Users\<windows user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts\<windows live email address>\15.4\DBStore\contacts.edb / contacts.pat If you cannot find the file in above folder, try to search the contacts.edb under C:\Users\<windows user name>\AppData 4. Re-login Windows Live Messenger Issue Resolved I don’t know what WL Messenger Client team are doing in this release, but they need to aware this issue, I don’t want to create a bat script to delete that file again and again and again.
